How to Perform Document Redaction in VIDIZMO

This article guides you through the steps to automatically detect and redact sensitive information in your documents using AI processing in VIDIZMO. AI processing can detect and redact the following:

  • PII(Personally identifiable information)

  • OCR text: Text recognized in images or scanned PDFs

  • Objects: Faces, people, vehicles, and signatures

  • Custom Patterns: Editable documents and non-editable documents when OCR generated.

You can apply AI redaction to one or more documents at the same time.

Prerequisites​

  • You must belong to a group that has Redaction feature permissions.

  • Bulk Redaction is available through the Redact using pattern modal.

  • To upload documents, you need the Document feature.

  • Before you use AI processing for document redaction, ensure the required VIDIZMO Indexer apps are configured:

    • VIDIZMO Indexer: Detects and redacts PII (Personally Identifiable Information).
    • Vision Indexer: Detects OCR text and visual objects such as faces, people, vehicles,signatures and custom patterns.

Make sure the VIDIZMO Indexer app is enabled and configured before uploading documents.

Document redaction can run automatically or on demand, depending on your Indexer configuration:

Automatic Processing​

When Automatic Processing is turned on in the VIDIZMO Indexer apps:

  1. Upload your document to the Library.
  2. The document is automatically processed for configured AI insights such as PII, OCR text, objects, or custom patterns.
  • To enable this behavior, make sure the relevant Indexer apps are configured as described in the Prerequisites section, and that Automatic Processing is set to On in each app.

Note:

  • The insights that appear in this field depend on the bundle included in your purchased plan. To use this feature, make sure your plan includes the required bundle.
  • PII (includes custom PII made from Custom Patterns).
  1. Once processing is complete, a redacted copy of the document appears in the Library.

On-Demand Processing​

On-demand Redaction offers a convenient way to redact information from a document. You can redact information directly from the library.

  1. In the Library, open the document’s overflow menu.

  1. Select Process

  2. In the Process modal, select Generate AI Insights.

  3. Choose the desired AI Insights to detect:

  • PII (Personally Identifiable Information)

  • OCR

  • Objects (faces, people, vehicles, or signatures)

  1. Select the Redaction Classes for each insight.

  2. Set the Confidence Threshold for redaction, if required.

  3. Choose the Action for the original file.

NOTE: Additional fields may appear in the process modal depending on the selected redaction classes or insights. Options vary based on your selections.

  1. Select Start to start the redaction process.

NOTE: Processing time depends on the document size and the selected detection options.

Once processing completes, a redacted version of the document is created and stored in the Library.

On-Demand Bulk Processing​

To perform bulk document redaction:

  1. Select multiple documents.
  2. On the ribbon, select Process.

As described in the On-Demand Processing section, follow the same steps to configure the insights you want to use for redaction. After setup, you can run redaction on all selected documents in bulk.
